Water monitoring

Legionella monitoring and monthly water checks

Your written scheme sets out regular checks. We carry them out and keep your logbook up to date. You get a written report after every visit.

What a monitoring visit includes

  • Hot and cold temperatures at every sentinel outlet.
  • Calorifier flow and return temperatures.
  • Outlet temperatures at TMVs.
  • Flushing of little used outlets on the day.
  • A check of your weekly flushing records.
  • Your logbook updated on site.
  • A written report with any actions in priority order.

Why it matters

Temperature is the main control for most hot and cold water systems. Legionella grows best between 20°C and 45°C. Regular checks prove your controls are working. They also catch a problem before it becomes an outbreak.

Your records are your evidence. If an inspector or insurer asks how you control the risk your logbook answers the question.

You can do this in house

Monthly checks are simple on a small site. A trained member of your team can do them in a few minutes with a thermometer and a log sheet. We are happy to train them instead.

Our monitoring suits larger buildings and estates where nobody on site has the time or the training. It also suits sites with vulnerable people where the checks need an expert eye.

Weekly flushing

Outlets used less than once a week need flushing every week. That is usually a job for someone on site. We set up the routine and check the records each visit.

Questions

Common questions

Do we legally need a contractor for monthly checks?

No. The checks must be done by someone competent. That can be a trained member of your own team.

What happens if a temperature is out of range?

We record it and look for the cause on the day. Your report sets out what needs doing and how urgently.

Can you cover several sites?

Yes. We plan visits across your estate and keep every site's records in the same format.
