Will the water need to be turned off?

For some jobs it will. We plan the work to keep disruption to a minimum and tell you in advance.

Do you disinfect after the work?

Where the work disturbs the system we flush it. We disinfect when the job or your assessment calls for it.

Legionella Remedial Works: Dead Legs, Expansion Vessels

What we do

Dead leg removal

Pipework that no longer serves an outlet lets water sit still. We cut it back to the live pipe and seal it. We then flush and disinfect where needed.

Expansion vessels

Vessels on hot water systems can hold stagnant water. We check them and replace or fit flow through vessels where your assessment calls for it.

Calorifier inspection and cleaning

We inspect calorifiers and drain off sludge. Where needed we clean them and check the water reaches the right temperature.

Showerhead and hose descaling

Scale gives bacteria somewhere to live. We descale and disinfect showerheads and hoses. This is usually done every three months.

Other works

Removal of redundant outlets and pipework.
Insulation of pipework to keep cold water cold.
New tank lids and insect screens.
Thermal or chemical disinfection of the system.

Some of this is engineer work by law

Work on unvented hot water systems must be done by a person qualified to do it. We only send qualified engineers to unvented systems. A good rule of thumb is that any task needing the system drained or chemicals used is engineer work.
